My lessons
Where I teach
Olive Cottage is on the main road into the village of St Dogmaels from Cardigan. It is on the left hand side of the road, just before you enter the village, 200 yards before the bottom of the hill. It is a white house with a long, white wall. This is the view from my teaching room.

Introductory Lesson
One lesson will give you an idea of what the Technique is all about. It is an opportunity for me to assess you and for you to decide if lessons are for you. I will also show you Alexander’s invaluable self-help tool, the semi-supine procedure.
The aim of each lesson…
… is to deepen our understanding of Alexander’s principles by attempting to ‘carry out an activity against the habit of life’ and to see what we’re up against.
One to one Alexander Technique lessons usually involve some lying down work and the carrying out of some simple everyday movements, usually sitting and standing.
We’re looking for what Alexander called “the true and primary movement in each and every act” and the primary movement is up. When we are able to recognise our tendency to go down and, at the critical moment before making a movement, to prevent this, things are going in the right direction.
Teaching is through both verbal and hands-on direction.
It is best to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes.
